Darren Waller Injury

Darren Waller Targets Return for Week 1

Tight End Expects to Debut in Season Opener Against Chargers

Waller Set to Make Impact After Hamstring Injury

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller is optimistic about his return to the field in time for the team's season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 11. Waller has been sidelined with a lingering hamstring injury since last season and missed the entire preseason.

"I'm feeling really good," Waller said after practice on Wednesday. "I've been able to do everything in practice this week, and I'm confident that I'll be ready to go on Sunday."

Waller's return is a major boost for the Raiders offense, which struggled without him last season. The tight end was a Pro Bowl selection in 2020 and is one of the most dangerous pass-catching threats in the NFL.

The Raiders will be cautious with Waller's return, but they are hopeful that he will be able to play a significant role in the offense this season.

"We're going to take it day by day with him," head coach Josh McDaniels said. "But he's a big part of our offense, and we're excited to have him back."
