Italy wins gold in the men's 4x100m relay at the European Athletics Championships
Italy clinched the gold medal in the men's 4x100m relay at the European Athletics Championships in Rome, Italy, on Sunday.
The team, consisting of Marcell Jacobs, Filippo Tortu, Matteo Melluzzo, and Lorenzo Patta, crossed the finish line in 37.95 seconds, ahead of Poland and Great Britain.
It was Italy's first gold medal in the men's 4x100m relay at the European Athletics Championships since 1994.
"We are very happy," said Jacobs. "We worked hard for this and we are very proud of what we have achieved."
"It is a great feeling to win a gold medal in front of our home crowd," added Tortu.
